Turkey leftovers even if you don't serve a Christmas turkey!

turkey leftovers are delicious

You can have turkey leftovers even if you didn't do the whole Christmas turkey thing on Christmas day.

How? Just make a turkey ahead of time and freeze it.

I tried it and I can personally state that make ahead turkey works! And not only does it taste great, you can pull out portions from your freezer and enjoy it time after time.

On another page I talk about making your Christmas turkey the day before. Yes you can cook that turkey the day before.

But you can also make your turkey any time you want over the holiday season and freeze portions in chicken broth.

You will find this so helpful if you are busy, stressed out, have health and energy issues or just want to get a jump on Christmas tasks.

The procedure is the same as for cooking any turkey.

Use your favorite recipe, cook your turkey and let it cool for a about half an hour.

Put it in the frig and let it cool completely for several hours.

Then carve into portions and put them in freezer bags with chicken broth to keep them moist.

Pop your portions into the freezer and there they are. Just defrost and reheat whenever you want a delicious turkey meal.

And remember this great tip - if you want the delicious smell of roast turkey, or you want to make gravy, just buy some wings and pop them in the oven. You get a triple bonus - the lovely smell of roasting turkey, some extra wings, and a way to make gravy to go with your leftover turkey.
