The key to giving Mom a Happy Mothers Day.

vibrant tulips The key to giving Mom a Happy Mothers Day present is easy. Just answer these simple questions, and you can’t miss pleasing your mother.

Are you searching for a Happy Mother’s Day gift idea?

To make sure Mothers Day is a Happy Mother’s Day, think of all the things she cherishes when she’s at home.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, or how old your mother is. The key to giving your Mom a Mother’s Day present she would love is in the answers to a few simple questions.

What kind of food does your mother like?
What says special at the dinner table to your Mom?
What kind of music does your mother like?

When you’ve answered these questions, you have all the answers you need to plan a perfect Mothers Day meal.

Since this is a website about dinner party planning, I’m going to focus on a Happy Mothers Day dinner.

For your Happy Mothers Day meal, you should plan a menu that you can make without her help. If you’re not a great cook, that means picking simple food. Elaborate recipes aren’t necessary. But what is necessary is to choose foods your mother really wants to eat. That might not necessarily be the kind of food you like to eat, but remember that this is part of your Mothers Day present to her.

Here’s a Happpy Mothers Day menu that works for most moms, whether they are slimming or watching what they eat or not. It includes one or two treats that are not necessarily slimming. You don’t have to serve everything in every course, but choose foods you know or are pretty sure your Mom likes.

Easy, delicious, healthy Mothers Day meal

Choose what you would like from this selection of easy, ready-made or make-ahead appetizers:
Oysters from a tin on whole-wheat crackers
A selection of olives
Celery sticks Shrimp cocktail with lemon wedges
Pate with sliced baguette

Choose from these very easy entrées:You can just pop them in the oven with a meat thermometer in them and remove when ready. They require almost no effort to cook and you can pull them out of the oven to “rest” for a few minutes while you dish up the last minute items

Pork roast with roasted onions
Boneless turkey roast with cranberry sauce
Boneless leg of lamb

Add some super-easy salad, vegetables and starch: Pre-mixed salad from the supermarket just needs to be washed and put in a salad bowl. If you want to be extra fancy, add some radishes or cherry tomatoes along with the salad dressing. Get a package of pretty looking frozen vegetables and follow the microwave directions. They’ll be ready in a few minutes and the colors are fresh and appealing. Choose baby potatoes and boil them gently until done, sprinkle them with a bit of parsley and voila – a gourmet-looking starch that goes with everything.
Easy festive dessert: A delicious fruit salad for dessert is healthy and low in calories. You can make it early in the day and keep it covered in the frig. If you’ve never made fruit salad before, look up directions on the internet because some fruit like apples needs a little special treatment like a sprinkling of lemon juice so it doesn’t turn brown.

Put some dark chocolate out to nibble at, and you have given Mom a delicious healthy dessert and an extra treat for her special day.

Setting the table for Mother’s Day Dinner
Two things on the table say special to just about every woman - candles and flowers.

Put some decorative candles on the table. If you’re not sure what kind, you’ll get lots of easy ideas on my Candle Guide Page.

Choose some low flowers for the center of the table (low so people can see over them).

A simple white tablecloth is perfect because your flowers and candles will dress it up. Or if your mother has a favorite tablecloth, use that one.

If you can, use cloth napkins, because they also say special. But if you can’t find any at hand, use plain paper napkins.

If you find the whole idea of setting the table confusing, get some quick help from my Table Centerpieces page

champagne Of course your Happy Mothers Day meal isn't complete without a special drink.

If you drink wine, champagne is always right.

Otherwise, you can check out my Choosing Wine Page to help you choose wine that goes well with your food choices.

There's a lot of information there to guide you to a proper choice without making it really complicated.

And now the big sacrifice!
Choose dinner music that your mom likes. Really. Even if you don’t like it yourself. Really. It’s only for an hour or two, and she will really feel the love if you cater to her taste.

That’s all there is to giving your Mom a great Happy Mothers Day present.
